Welding Fundamentals through Workforce Development

The Welding Fundamentals program provides students with short-term training skills and qualifications for accelerated entry into the workforce.

Students will learn foundational skills involved in basic gas and arc welding, gas metal arc (MIG) welding, shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) also known as stick welding, gas tungsten arc welding (TIG), and flux cored arc welding (FCAW). Students will learn the basics of industrial safety, how to set up and operate gas welding and shielded metal arc welding equipment, and shop safety.

Financing your training

The Welding Fundamentals program is a $6,200 valued training. Due to generous grant funding, the cost for students is $2,800.

Funding may be available to qualified individuals to help cover part of or the full $2,800 course fee. These sources include:

  • NYS Department of Labor Individual Training Accounts
  • Local scholarships
  • Part-time TAP for Non-degree Program: for non-matriculated students attending part-time

Our team works with each student prior to enrollment to determine funding eligibility. Most students receive funding for part or all of the training cost.

This program prepares students for careers in the following New York State Department of Labor O*NET SOC Codes: 51-4121-Welders, Cutters, Solderers, and Brazers, 51-4122- Welding, Soldering, and Brazing Machine Setters, Operators, and Tenders.
